Description
The origins of Banyalbufar stem from a tenth-century hamlet named Banyalbahar, a Moorish toponym meaning "built beside the sea".
Banyalbufar is a little village to the south-east of the UNESCO world heritage Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, and lies between the areas of Estellencs, Esporles and Valldemossa. It is a landscape of mountains, spectacular Roman-epoch hillside terraces and a steep coastline. While the area is traditionally dedicated to cattle rearing, fishing and arable farming, Banyalbufar has now become a destination offering great value to lovers of nature, walking and hiking, cycle tourism, and in general to people wishing to experience the charm of the most traditional and unique side of Mallorca while still enjoying all of today's services and amenities.
